Here are just a few ways your support contributes to a vibrant and inclusive University City:

Promoting Economic Mobility: Over 1,800 jobseekers have been served through The Skills Initiative since 2011, connecting many to life-changing careers through this innovative, nationally-recognized workforce development program.

Green City Works provides hands-on landscaping training and equips formerly unemployed neighbors with barriers to work with valuable skills to beautify businesses and public spaces. Community support helps GCW revitalize outdated parks, playgrounds, and green spaces in West Philadelphia.

Maintaining Clean & Safe Streets: In 2024, our flagship program collected 45,000 bags of trash, removed 271 graffiti tags, and had 293 engagements with individuals experiencing homelessness—helping 44 find shelter with Project Home and 28 access treatment services.

Activating Public Spaces: UCD produces many dynamic events, including Pop-Ups at the Portal and Movies in Clark Park, which unite University City’s residents, small businesses and creative communities.

Supporting Small Business: From business planning to access to capital and securing brick-and-mortar facilities, UCD supports small businesses through every step of doing business in University City; events like Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll and University City Dining Days promote thriving business corridors.
